ABOUT
ROBERT

Robert Sanders, violinist, performs regularly with the Vienna Philharmonic as a member of the orchestra’s academy. With the orchestra he has performed in more than ten countries under many of the world’s most prominent conductors, including his participation in the internationally broadcast Summer Night Concert at Schönbrunn Palace in June 2022. Outside of his orchestral activities, recent engagements have included solo and chamber music performances in Salzburg, Berlin, and Borgia, Italy. He has performed at festivals such as Salzburg, Lucerne (Switzerland), Aspen Music Festival and School, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival. 

 

Sanders is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he received his Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Prof. Renée Jolles with a Minor in General Psychology. While at Eastman, he served as concertmaster of all large orchestral ensembles and was a member of the Asha String Quartet, with whom he performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. 

 

Hailing from Chicago, Robert began playing the violin at the age of five, first taught by his mother, Tamara Glassburg, and his father, James Sanders. He continued studies with Hye-Sun Lee of the Music Institute of Chicago followed by Robert Hanford, concertmaster of the Lyric Opera Orchestra.
